| WHO BENEFITS?: |
The Morris County Bar Foundation and the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Morris and Sussex Counties, Inc. (“CASA”) will divide the net profits from the Lawyers for Kids 5K.
The Morris County Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the Morris County Bar Association, a 1200 member organization of attorneys who practice or live in Morris County. We serve the community through our legal clinics, fellowships and grants for needy law school students, fundraising on behalf of the community-based organizations, financial grants to area non-profits with programs related to the law, and seminars for local residents to provide information about the law.
CASA is a not-for-profit organization that advocates for the rights of abused, neglected, or abandoned children in an attempt to place those children in a safe and permanent home. Community volunteers, trained and supervised by a professional staff, serve as a voice for children’s interests during Family Court proceedings. Volunteers are guided by the belief that children in foster care, like all children, need a permanent, stable family environment in which to grow.
CASA serves over 300 children a year in Morris and Sussex counties. The CASA volunteer works with the court and all interested parties, but focuses solely on the long-term needs of the children who have been victims of neglect, abuse, or abandonment. |
| The Event: |
A warm July night promises a lot of fun, fast times and great amenities at the7th Annual Lawyers For Kids 5K which will be held on the roads of Morris Township. It's a " bring the whole family" event as a two mile walk and a Kids' Gallop are also on tap. The Morris County Bar Association Foundation is organizing this event to benefit the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Morris and Sussex Counties (CASA).
Terrific amenities are in store including a fun t-shirt, summertime snacks, random prizes.and live music.
The course is USATF certfied, very fast (one hill in the middle), has minimal turns, course clocks and two water stops.
If you're anywhere near 287, 24, 80 or 78 you won't have far to travel.....So join us for an enjoyable summer night 5K.

If you complete both the Lawyers for Kids 5K on July 7 and the Safe Dating Challenge on October 30, you will be entered into a Cash Random Prize Drawing. You must complete both races to qualify. Three random winners will be selected on October 30, 2011. Cash prizes: $500, $200, $100.

FROM I-287 NORTHBOUND: Exit 35. Turn RIGHT onto South Street (Route 601 ) and proceed past traffic light. Make LEFT on Woodland Avenue.*** Follow race parking signs. Ginty Field will be on the RIGHT across from Police HQ.
From Route 124 EAST or WEST: Proceed to South Street ( Route 601 ). Cross over Rt. 287. After Traffic light, make LEFT onto Woodland Avenue. Follow*** above.
FROM I-287 SOUTHBOUND: Exit 35. At traffic light at end of ramp, make RIGHT onto Madison Avenue. LEFT at light onto South Street. Go through one traffic light.
